Taking a break after miscarriage

My partner and I have chosen to use condoms until we're ready to try again. I had a missed miscarriage which was detected by ultrasound at 8 weeks, followed by a D&C three days later. My physical recovery hasn't been as quick as I anticipated, to say nothing of the emotional side of things. At 40, I have being urged by my doctor not to wait but have chosen to disregard this advice. I'm planning to wait at least 2 menstrual cycles. This was my first pregnancy.
