Anencephaly

Definition:

Anencephaly is a type of neural tube defect, or problem with prenatal development of the spine and nervous system. In anencephaly, the baby's brain does not develop fully and large parts of it and the skull are missing. Infants with anencephaly are frequently stillborn, and those that survive birth usually die within a few days.
