According to an article I found in an Australian newspaper, a researcher has developed a miscarriage risk assessment formula to determine who is most likely to miscarry. The test is offered to high risk women and calculates the miscarriage risk based on factors like the mom's pregnancy history, ultrasound measurements, and the existence of bleeding in the pregnancy. Those deemed to have higher risk of miscarriage based on the calculations can then be monitored more closely.
But the test isn't 100% accurate -- the article states that the accuracy is 80%, so I'd worry that means that at least a small number of women are going to be told they're "likely to miscarry" when they're not going to. Still, I can imagine that having a set percentage risk of miscarriage might be nice for those moms who are having symptoms and who are already worrying.
