Definition:

One of the two antibodies (along with anticardiolipin antibodies) that are most commonly tested for to screen for antiphospholipid syndrome, a condition that may cause recurrent miscarriages.

Despite the name, a positive test for lupus anticoagulant antibodies does not mean that a person has the disease commonly called lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus).
