Peg Perego, popular stroller manufacturer, announced a massive product recall on Tuesday July 25th, 2012. Their Venezia and Pliko-P3 models, manufactured between 2004 and 2007, have been implicated in 1 infant death, and one near-strangulation of another infant. In total, 223,000 strollers have been recalled.
You can get a free repair kit from Peg Perego by calling (888) 734-6020 or from the web site, www.PegPeregoUSA.com.
If you have one of these models, bear in mind that the recall only applies to strollers with a child tray and one cup holder. The model type will be printed on the side of the stroller, and the exact model number will be found in one of two locations. On the Venezia, the model number is on the stroller's footboard. On the Pliko, the number is on the white label on the back of the stroller's seat.

The two incidents involved infants under age 1 who were not properly latched into the restraints. Since 2008, Peg Perego has voluntarily changed the spacing between the seats and trays on their strollers to prevent further injuries.
Another stroller company, Kolcraft, is voluntarily recalling about 5,600 of the Contours Options LT double strollers with model number ZT012 sold between February and July of this year, after reports of the front wheels breaking, and nuts which come loose and could present a choking hazard.
Owner of this stroller can contact Kolcraft at (800) 453-7673 or online at www.kolcraft.com.for free replacement wheels, and/or replacement nuts, depending on the date of manufacture.
To find the date of manufacture and model number look at the label on the stroller's rear leg. Strollers of concern are black with red canopies and accents and gray with yellow canopies and accents. The strollers have one mesh basket below the two seats.
My heart goes out to the families whose children were injured or killed by these products. If you own a stroller made by either of these manufacturers, please check to see if your model is part of the recall and get the necessary repair kit. Please be sure to always follow manufacturers' instructions for strollers and all baby products to avoid accidents.
