Lily Allen Comments on Miscarriage Grief

From Krissi Danielsson, About.com Guide   December 28, 2009

Follow me on:

According to a report from The Press Association, singer Lily Allen has given another interview in which she openly discussed her grief over her miscarriage and the emotional toll it took upon her. In the interview, given to Britain's Grazia magazine, Allen reportedly calls her miscarriage two years ago the "worst time of my life" and discusses how she felt when the due date rolled around and how therapy has been essential for her in moving past the tragedy.

It isn't the first time Allen has commented on her miscarriage, but I say kudos to her again for talking about this openly and for publicly acknowledging how much therapy can help. I know sometimes people are ashamed to admit that they can't deal with stuff like this on their own, but the truth is that a miscarriage can indeed be a big deal and a major life event that isn't easy to move past. There's nothing wrong with needing help to get through it.

Thanks for this useful post. Here is some additional information about the “genetics” of this condition that was written by our Genetic Counselor and other genetic professionals: http://www.accessdna.com/condition/Recurrent_Pregnancy_Loss/Stillbirth/323. Thanks, AccessDNA
