Suspicions Increase that Swine Flu (H1N1) Causes Pregnancy Complications
Although there is still no hard data on the specific risks, reports suggest that evidence is increasing that pregnant women are at higher risk of complications from swine flu (H1N1) than other groups.
In a report from CTV.ca, disease control experts point out that pregnant women have a different immune system state and thus face higher risk of complications from any infection. Another pointed out that pregnant women infected with H1N1 appear to have a higher than normal pregnancy loss rate, especially those who develop pneumonia after the infection, although there are no hard numbers.
The CDC is still studying the matter, but for now they recommend that if you are pregnant and having flu-like symptoms, you should see a doctor right away. In some cases, antiviral medications may be advised. You can also reduce your risk of becoming infected by washing your hands frequently, avoiding contact with people who are ill, and trying not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth more than necessary (CDC recommendations for pregnant women).

i think there are huge risks for pregnant women i had swine flue 3 weeks ago. I had horrendous fevers, even with paracetomol every 4 hours 41oC. Abdominal pain sickness immense muscle pain all over. I think this virus resulted in my miscarriage last week i was 11/12 weeks pregnant.
I do believe that there may be a link to Swine Flu and miscarriage. 2 women in our family miscarried at 12 and 15 weeks pregnant within 1 week of contracting the flu. Neither had complication before. Anyone else?
I suspect I had the swine flue back in May. 2 weeks after I had this horrible flu I lost my baby @ 19 weeks 4 days. I may never know for sure but there seemed nothing develpopmentally wrong with him and we have no evidence of what had gone wrong. Just my thoughts .
Im not sure but not only myself, i know someone that withing 4 days of getting the shot we both miscarried, i was only 6 weeks and she was 4 months along, not sure if the shot caused it and cant find any other information but i am a little concerned about this coincidence.
I just read a dozen women reported miscarriages after getting vaccine on the other link on this site. I hope doctors stop this terrible vaccine before others have miscarriages! How sad. How can doctors sleep at night after seeing all these miscarriages after flu vaccines?! There are so many!
SO MANY ARE REPORTING MISSCARRIAGES A DAY OR TWO *AFTER* THE VACCINE!
Be sure to read comments left on the “Pregnant Women Fearful of H1N1 Vaccine…” on this site!! Many just reported miscarriages AFTER vaccine! More getting miscarriages from the VACCINE than the flu.
I think pregnant women should be suspicious of vaccines while pregnant. Many miscarriages have resulted a day or two after being vaccinated. Too many for it to be coincidence.
The comments left by many women experiencing miscarriages after flu vaccines is now gone from this site. So many were reporting miscarriages a day or two after vaccine and those posts are now gone. ?????
Beth, most of the comments about miscarriage are on the other blog post of mine about H1N1 vaccine referenced in comment number 7 here. They have not been removed.
Thank you, however, where is the “other blog post” that contains the women writing in about miscarriages after their vaccines? I no longer see that link.
I would recommed anyone who has experienced a miscarriage after receiving the vaccination report to VAERS which is the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, and also report to CNN, FOX and MSNBC, and talk to your local news station. I was also one of the women on here who had the vaccination at 16 1/2 weeks pregnant and 24-48 hours later went into labor and delivered a still born little boy. The doctors will not listen as my doctor swore her life on the vaccination stating more women will benefit then lose from having this shot. My pregnancy was fine up until I received that vaccination. I want to offer my condolences to everyone who has experienced such lost, I pray the vaccine did not have anything to do with it, but my gut feelings tell me otherwise.
I lost my baby at 8 wks after getting the H1N1 vaccine I recommend no pregnant women get this!!! On Nov. 6th 2009 we saw our baby and a strong heart beat I received the vaccine on Nov.5th 2009 and by Nov. 9th I was bleeding and cramping and eventually miscarried. I reported it to the FDA. I’m just curious if there is going to be a lawsuit I have read of several accounts of women having the same end result…..this was horrible and the worst thing that could happen to my husband and I. I had been trying to get pregnant for 5 yrs.
I had flu when i was pregnant and my baby was found to have abnormalities and had to be delievered at 20 weeks. Get the vaccination now.
this is scary..i got the vaccine maybe 3 weeks ago and i have been having some preterm labor symptoms but the baby is still alive..but other than that it didnt affect me or my baby girl..im so sorry to all the people who have lost theirs :/ if i would of known about this sooner i wouldnt even of gotten it even though me and my baby are okay.
I miscarried about 1 1/2 weeks ago (I was only 6 weeks along). I had the H1N1 virus back in October and by my calculations had the virus 3-4 days after we would have conceived. The doctor said that there was most likely something wrong from the beginning of the pregnancy… but the beginning of the pregnancy was when I had the flu. So curious if it was a factor… although I know I will never know for sure. I already have a 3 year old and that pregnancy had zero complications… everything was the same with this pregnancy (even became pregnant the exact same month as we did with our 3 year old!), except the flu.
I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and 1 day, which showed a baby with a beating heart. I received the H1N1 shot the same day. I miscarried two days later.
